An increased or rising PSA value does not always mean prostate cancer, but should be investigated even if the man has no symptoms. Changes in the prostate can be detected in modern MRI diagnostics painlessly and precisely. Using multiparametric MRI (mpMRI), it is possible to differentiate between inflammatory, benign and malignant findings through the interaction of various MRI sequences. This allows non-invasive detection and precise localisation of focal findings suspected of being cancerous at an early stage. Depending on the relevance of the MRI findings, this offers the opportunity for a targeted biopsy and individualised treatment planning. Active monitoring is also possible with the inclusion of MRI control.
Multi-parametric MRI of prostate cancer patients was a focus of my work at the Proton Therapy Centre, and I offer it to you in accordance with the applicable quality standards using state-of-the-art MRI equipment in my Private practice to. The ultra-high resolution MRI-Imaging enables a corresponding fine diagnosis, which I can also offer you at the Berlin-Charlottenburg site with a 3 Tesla MRI.

Expert interview with Dr Sven Walter
The importance of prostate MRI in the fight against prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is the most common tumour disease in men in Germany. One in six men over the age of 50 is diagnosed with prostate cancer. It is important to diagnose the cancer as early as possible! The disease is often asymptomatic in the early stages and tumour cells quickly spread (metastasise) as it progresses. MRI of the prostate optimises the diagnostic results and provides valuable information for optimised treatment and therapy planning.
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI for short, is a non-invasive and completely painless examination of the prostate. In a multi-parametric examination, the prostate is displayed with high-resolution MRI images in all planes and several views and analysed using various functional measurements. I compare the "multiparametric" examination with a "polyphonic" orchestra. Each individual voice is important, but only together do they make the music.
Other common prostate examinations are not sufficient to detect prostate cancer in the early stages or to rule it out with certainty. Multi-parametric MRI is the most accurate imaging method for detecting prostate cancer that requires treatment and has a good chance of being cured if diagnosed at an early stage.
An increased or rising PSA value in the blood, inflammation or enlargement of the prostate as well as ambiguous findings from a biopsy of the prostate should be clarified in order to differentiate between harmless and malignant changes. MRI of the prostate is the best imaging procedure for detecting or ruling out even the smallest suspicious cancerous lesions. MRI of the prostate is also useful for prostate screening, especially in men with a family history of cancer.
Prevention for long-term health
An early MRI scan can save lives
The MRI examination of the prostate plays a decisive role in the prevention and early detection of prostate cancer. Thanks to the in-depth expertise and many years of experience of Dr Sven Walter, specialist in radiology and nuclear medicine, the importance of this examination becomes even clearer. It provides deep insights into the condition of the prostate and helps to recognise signs of prostate cancer at an early stage.
Prostate MRI is an indispensable tool in the fight against prostate cancer. By raising awareness of its importance, together we can improve the health and quality of life of those affected.
